In order to manage you server you will fist need to connect to it. Here are the 2 main methods what you will use to connect to your Server - Console (SSH) & FTP

==Putty (Console)==

SSH (Using Putty)

Putty is a well known SSH client that you can use to connect to your server in order to use its terminal console (Just like CMD on Windows)

When you run Putty you will have a window that looks like this, you will need to put your servers IP or hostname (if set) into this box & then press Open to connect to it

Once connected you will be asked to login using a username & password in order to gain access to the server.

Now that you have logged in you can send commands to the server. [[Commands_-_Basic|Linux Basic Commands]]

==FTP (Filezilla)==

Filezilla is a well known Free FTP client, But you can use any other FTP software that you like in order to FTP connect to your server.

We do offer FTP install & setup for your Servers, If so we will either use VSFTPD or ProFTPD

As Shown above
 <span style="background:#ff0000"> In Red - Host (IP of the server) </span> 
 <span style="background:#00ff00"> In Green - Username (Who you want to login as) </span>
 <span style="background:#ffff00"> In Yellow - Password (Password for that user) </span>

On a default FTP you can leave the port blank (It will try to use Port 21) you only need to use a port number if you have changed the FTP server settings.

Once you are connected, you will be able to navigate through the folders of the server. Aswell as Uploading / Downloading files.

==X2GO (Remote Desktop - Linux)

X2GO Is a popular Remote Desktop Client for connecting to Linux servers / desktops, The client can be ran on Linux, Windows & Mac Computers so you can use it to remotely manage your Linux servers using a GUI

If you are using Ubuntu as your server OS. Create the session using "Session Type - GNOME"
