==FTP (Filezilla)==

Filezilla is a well known Free FTP client, But you can use any other FTP software that you like in order to FTP connect to your server.

We do offer FTP install & setup for your Servers, If so we will either use VSFTPD or ProFTPD

== Connecting to your server ==

As Shown above
 In Red - Host (IP of the server) 
 In Green - Username (Who you want to login as) 
 In Yellow - Password (Password for that user) 

On a default FTP you can leave the port blank (It will try to use Port 21) you only need to use a port number if you have changed the FTP server settings.

Once you are connected, you will be able to navigate through the folders of the server. Aswell as Uploading / Downloading files.

== Transfering Files ==

To transfer files using FTP is easy, it is just a case of drag & drop - As shown in the image below

When you select the files you want to copy to your server & drag them onto the server's folder browser you will notice in the status area at the bottom of the FileZilla is a progress like bar, this will tell you how the transfer process is going.

== Editing Files ==

Most FTP clients have a simple text editor built in that can be used to open, edit & save text files on the server. This can be usful if you just want to change some config files for example

To do this, when you select a text file, right click & then press "Edit" -> Edit the file, then when done exit & save -> Now the FTP may say the file has been changed & you can press "Yes" to Upload the latest version

== File Permissions ==

File Permissions are very important on a server, you can use them to lock users out of a folder, or give a group of users access to a shared folder

When you right click on a folder on your server there will be an option "File Permissions" When you do this, it will open another window in which you can change the file permissions of that folder and its contents

The 1st line is about the Owner (If you made the folder this will be you), The 2nd Line is about the User Group you are in e.g. (Admins), The 3rd group is everyone else (Public)

The options are as they say Read Access (Allow them to open / read the file - Not to save or edit), Write Access (Allow them to open, edit, save & make new files) & Execute (Let them run the program or file)
