== Why Linux? - Linux Vs Windows - Servers ==

Around the world you will find there will be far more servers running Linux as its OS, Why ? Because of speed, security, costs & maintenance.

Linux is far faster than windows when it comes to an OS, Why ? Because Linux doesn’t need to run all the fancy user interface effects like you have on Windows. When running Linux as a Server OS you save all the resources you would normally waste just running the OS leaving more room to run applications on the server, this makes it far better value for our customers.

== Why do you think the worlds fastest supercomputers are running Linux ? ==

Linux is far more secure, when using a server you are far less likely to be surfing the web and downloading potential files that could have virus’s in them & because most users are running windows over 75% Home Users (Source – http://statcounter.com ) are running Windows OS the virus makers target them as the key target. Along with Linux being Open Source & having a large community of contributors its OS is updated practically everyday.

Linux is far cheaper to run compared to windows mainly because you don’t have to pay for a licence to use it unlike some Windows Server licences that are over $1,000 each (Source - http://www.microsoft.com )

== What versions of Linux do we use ? ==

There are hundreds if not thousands of versions of Linux out there. We tend to use the most popular versions because support & updates for these OS's are much better than smaller community made versions of Linux. We mainly tend to use either CentOS (6+) or Ubuntu (10.04 / 12.04 - LTS Editions)

== Will we ever offer Windows Servers ? ==

In the near future we are looking to offer Windows Servers as an OS choice on our Dedicated Servers. Because of the Dedicated server specification there will be enough space to run the OS, This will come at an extra cost because of the licencing for Windows.
